Borgund Stave Church, Norway
Borgund Stave Church is a stave church located in Borgund, Lærdal, Norway. It was built sometime between 1180 and 1250 AD with later additions and restorations. It is classified as a triple nave stave church of the so-called Sogn-type. Its walls are formed by vertical wooden boards, or staves, hence the name “stave church”. The four corner posts were connected to one another by ground sills, resting on a stone foundation. The rest of the staves then rise from the ground sills, each stave notched and grooved along the sides so that they lock into one another, forming a sturdy wall.
La Sagrada Familia, Spain
La Sagrada Familia is a roman catholic church located in Barcelon, Spain and designed by celebrated Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. He worked on the project for some 40 years but died before construction was completed. He’s buried in a crypt beneath the nave. Constructed in the 1880’s, the church is the famous tourist site in Barelona. Construction on the cathedral, including the east-facing main face, is scheduled to continue for another 20 to 30 years.
Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in November 2010 was consecrated and proclaimed a minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI.
Frauenkirche of Dresden Germany
Frauenkirche was a roman catholic church and was taken by the Protestants then now, it is become a Lutheran church. Built in the 18th century, the church was destroyed in the bombing of Dresden during World War II.
In the 1980s, the ruins became a site of the East German peace movement; thousands gathered here to peacefully protest the regime of the East German Government. In 1994, they decided to resurrect the glory of Frauenkirche. The reconstruction of exterior and interior was completed in 2004 and 2005 respectively.
Now, Frauenkirche has been the signature landmark of Dresden.

Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire is a magnificent medieval cathedral with a number of unique characteristics. Most of the present building was completed by 1189 in the Romanesque style, with some additions made in the 13th and 14th centuries.
It is known locally as “the ship of the Fens”, because of its prominent shape that towers above the surrounding flat and watery landscape.

Built on the order of Ivan the Terrible to commemorate the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan, it marks the geometric centre of the city and the hub of its growth since the 14th century. It was the tallest building in Moscow until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600.
There are rumors that Ivan blinded the architect who built the church so he would not be able to design something as beautiful afterward.

Las Lajas Sanctuary is a minor basilica church located in the southern Colombian Department of Nariño, municipality of Ipiales and built inside the canyon of the Guáitara River. It was built in 1916 on the same site where the Virgin Mary appeared. Sorrounded by mountains Las Lajas Cathedral holds a natural beauty and worthy of a fairy tale.
The present church was built-in Gothic Revival style in 1949. The name Laja comes from the name of a type of flat sedimentary rock similar to shale.
Current church was built-in the time period from January 1, 1916 to August 20, 1949, with donations from local churchgoers. It rises 100 m high from the bottom of canyon and is connected with 50 m tall bridge to the opposite side of the canyon.
